The Charity relies heavily on its dedicated team of volunteers across the UK and Ireland who visit beneficiaries and undertake marketing and fundraising locally.
Volunteers are nominated by the local and associated institutes of the Chartered Insurance Institute as well as other insurance bodies.
There are several ways you can get involved:
Become an Insurance Charity Officer for your local Insurance Institute. The key focus in this role is to fundraise within your region and increase awareness of the charity among local businesses.
We run an annual awareness week each June and you can help us identify and contact local businesses to get as many insurance companies as possible involved across the UK and Ireland.
Volunteer for outreach welfare work by becoming a Charities Visitor. The role of the visitor is to meet people who have applied to us for help and complete an assessment of their current situation, including the verification of financial information supplied. Their independent and non-judgemental assessment is crucial in helping us appropriately support eligible insurance colleagues.
The Charities Visitors should be known to their local institute for at least 2 years, and nominated for the role. Visitors undergo a DBS check (in the UK) as well as induction and training.
As a charity covering the UK and Ireland we rely on our Charities Visitors to help us cover all the regions and support those who apply to us through the process.
