When someone is diagnosed with dementia it can feel like the rug has been pulled from under their feet. Too often people facing a diagnosis don’t know where to turn for the right support.
Are you looking for support?
The Insurance Charities and Alzheimer’s Society have created a dedicated service to support anyone in the industry affected by dementia – whether that’s for them or their loved one.
You can now access personalised support and advice to help you navigate the challenges of dementia.
Support begins on the phone and progresses to face-to-face visits if required.
If you or a family member is currently being affected by dementia please contact our Welfare Team in the first instance to establish how we can help.
“Life has changed dramatically for the better. Everyone seems like they are behind me and giving me tremendous support.”

“I feel in charge and empowered. I have a back-up. The dementia adviser articulated the chaos in my mind. There was nothing I couldn’t talk about – no holds barred. In the beginning, I couldn’t understand why I was suddenly angry and frustrated. My mind wouldn’t do what I wanted. The dementia adviser and I worked out it was triggered by thinking of things and noticing I’d forgotten something. Suddenly I’d flip and be nasty. The dementia adviser walked through different things going on mentally with me. It puts you back in charge – you weren’t alone – that was the biggest thing.
I don’t know what I would have done without my adviser. It helped immediately. It had been like a runaway truck.”
