Nineteen teams of nearly eighty players competed for the Julius Neave trophy at our annual golf day at Collingtree Park Golf Club in Northampton. Darren Vickery from the Insurance Institute of Chelmsford & South Essex took this year’s top prize with a winning score of 42 points.
The day began with a shotgun start after a breakfast of coffee and bacon rolls. A sunny but breezy day made the course more challenging. There were some close calls for the Hole In One, sponsored by Fully Furnished, but no one quite achieved it.
Novae had two teams playing who had a fantastic day, Iwan Jenkins took 2nd place in the competition and Freddie Taylor won the longest drive.
Jon Cox, playing in the QuestGates team took 3rd prize and Sue Dimmock from BIBA won nearest the pin.
The winning team was comprised of David Rose and Stuart Reoch from Allianz, Iain Hardiker, who collates all the scores on the day, and Kirsten Watson, one of our Board members and unofficial in-house golf specialist. Allianz are holding the team trophy for the year ready to defend their title at next year’s event.
After almost five hours of golf the players met up for dinner in the clubhouse, the prize giving and the raffle. The generosity of all who attended was incredible, we completely sold out of raffle tickets and raised over £600. Prizes won on the day included two tickets to the British Masters event at Close House, a deck chair, golf umbrella’s, whiskey, brandy, champagne and Titleist Pro V1 golf balls.
Huge thanks to all who helped make the day so successful from our sponsors to those who kindly donated prizes and especially the players who made the day so enjoyable. We hope to see you all again next year.
