Following a day of torrential rain in the Midlands, over 40 players gathered for The Insurance Charities Golf Day at the Staverton Park Golf Club.
Under improving skies a closely fought competition developed between a large number of the golfers. Barry Crutchley (3IDFS and playing off a handicap of 12) eventually won the event with a score of 43 points. Julian Flower (RIAS and playing off a handicap of 7) and David Adams (RIAS and playing off a handicap of 5) took second and third places respectively.
The team prize was won by 3IDFS (Barry Crutchley, Brendan Kavanagh, Alan Darby and Dennis Adams) with a total of 93 points. The longest drive and closest to the pin competitions were won by Aaron Bunyan (Southampton Insurance Golf Society) and Colin Aldous (Camford Sutton Probables) respectively.
The prizes were presented and the raffle drawn by Allen Prior, President of The Insurance Charities. He thanked the event’s main sponsors, Virginia Hayward (Hampers & Gifts) and Fully Furnished, along with LV=, who had donated umbrellas on the day, together with all the players, volunteers and the venue’s staff for their contributions to such a memorable and enjoyable day.
