This year our Insurance Charities Awareness Week ran from 19 to 23 June. Over 50,000 insurance employees from more than 300 insurance offices in the UK and Ireland took part. In the month leading up to the awareness week, we packed up and sent out over 550 display boxes and bags.
Highlights from the week included lunchtime lectures given at the Insurance Institutes of Leeds and Birmingham. With speakers from Mind and Dementia UK the lectures provided information on mental health issues and recognising and better understanding dementia.
Melanie Jordan from the Leeds Insurance Institute said:
“The recent lecture on ‘Stress in the Workplace’ provided by the Charities Mind and Dementia UK was attended by around 60 of our members who found the content very interesting and useful. The topic is increasingly relevant to our members and offered a lot of food for thought. It was also well timed with Insurance Charities week coming up, hopefully it will leave our members with an enthusiasm to dig deep with our annual charity raffle coming up.”
During our awareness week we were fortunate enough to benefit from fundraising campaigns run by insurance companies including Direct Line, QuestGates, Arthur J Gallagher, Aon and the ABA Group. Janet Bodycote from Arthur J Gallagher said: “The Charities Awareness Week enabled us to highlight the excellent work The Insurance Charities provides in supporting current and former insurance employees and their dependants in the UK and Irish insurance industry”.
The aim of the week is to raise awareness of The Insurance Charities among those who work in the insurance sector informing people of the help and support we can provide.
Thank you to everyone who participated and made the week such a success.
