Insurance Charities Day 2010
The Insurance Charities Big Balloon Day: 18th June 2010
Big Balloon Day was held on 18 June 2010, with balloon themed events taking place all around the UK. Sponsored by Fortis (Insurance UK), the aim of the day is to raise awareness and funds from within the insurance industry.
In London, Barry Smith, Chief Executive of Fortis UK and Nick Starling, President of The Insurance Charities and Deputy Director of the ABI released 600 balloons from Canopius’s 10th floor roof terrace in the Lloyd’s building. Balloons were ‘sold’ for a suggested £1 donation and the owner of the balloon that travels the furthest will win a prize of a champagne hot air balloon ride for four people.
