Insurance Charities Day 2009
Friday 19th June: A day to celebrate and promote our work
Thank you to all those Institutes, companies and individuals who supported us this year with a variety of events. Watch this space for totals raised from the events.
You can read about Belfast's walk on charities day and see the photos below. If you would like to send in a report and photos from your event to celebrate your fundraising efforts please email Rachel, Marketing Manager.
Belfast Insurance Institute
Following the success of the inaugural walk in 2008, instigated by Laura Cuthbertson, BII members were out in force for a repeat performance in 2009.
In a culture well known for walks and marches there wasn’t a banner or musical instrument in sight although the walkers were kitted out with umbrellas to ward off the heavy showers.
Led of at a blistering pace by their President, Russell Anderson, the first walkers started out at 12 o’clock and made their way through the streets of Belfast picking up participants at various insurance offices throughout the city.
Despite the inclement weather over 50 sponsored walkers gave up their lunch hour to raise funds for The Insurance Charities. There was excellent support from a variety of offices and the group even generated interest from passing tourists who stopped to take photographs while the walkers were having some “official” snaps taken outside one of the insurance offices.
Many thanks to all who helped organise the event and to all those who contributed, either by taking part in the walk, or by sponsoring the participants.
