Accessibility

This site has been designed with guidelines on accessibility from the World Wide Web Consortium and the Cabinet Office in mind. This means that we have tried to make our content available to the largest possible audience by catering for the broadest range of hardware and software platforms, and that users with disabilities have been considered.

There are some additional steps that users with disabilities can take to make their computers easier to use. Here are some brief guidelines for two of the most widely used platforms, Windows PC and Apple Macintosh.

PC:

Instructions here.

Mac:

Open System Preferences by clicking the dock icon, or choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click the icon for Universal Access. Here you will find some useful options for changing your systems settings relating to seeing (e.g. increasing text size), hearing (e.g. VoiceOver utility), keyboard and mouse.
