Introduction

Who are we?

The Insurance Charities (registered charity number 206860 and company number 74461) was established in 1902. Situated in the heart of the City of London, we benefit from a countrywide team of volunteer representatives who visit applicants and relay their needs to the Funds' welfare department for assessment. The volunteers also publicise the work of the Funds in their locality.

The Charity has a board of trustees drawn from across the insurance industry. Such trustees ensure that the needs of the whole industry are represented and that the charities' resources are appropriately managed.

The Charity has several full and part time employees who are engaged in assessing cases of hardship, administering authorised payments and maintaining appropriate financial records.

The Insurance Charities also administer payments from three other trust funds, the largest of which is The Paul Golmick Fund which helps minor children of insurance officials.

What do we do?

The Insurance Charities give vital financial and practical support to past and present employees of the insurance industry who have spent at least five years either working as insurance officials or within an insurance company or intermediary, regardless of their type of work. Support is also given to their dependent relatives, who are suffering financial hardship. For examples of how our help has been administered view our case studies.
